Somerset House, Teddington

Boyer Planning Twickenham, acting on behalf of Ashill Developments Ltd, has successfully obtained planning permission at appeal for 58 houses and flats on an employment site in Teddington within the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.

The Inspector agreed with our interpretation of policy that it was not necessary to provide 100% affordable housing, and recognised that the provision of 30 affordable homes would make a significant contribution to meet housing need particularly as the Council failed to deliver any affordable housing in 2009/10.

The Inspector also supported our case that severe site restrictions made continued use of the site for employment uses inappropriate and that the proposals would constitute a well-designed and attractive use of the land that would enhance the character and appearance of this part of Teddington.
