Dee Park Regeneration, Reading

Boyer Planning prepared a supplementary planning document (SPD), which set out planning and design guidance for the regeneration of the Dee Park Estate, a residential area in Reading. The area was the subject of a major regeneration scheme – this aimed to improve the housing mix and to bring other significant environmental improvements to the estate.
Boyer Planning also carried out a sustainability appraisal (SA) of the SPD, which involved the preparation of a scoping report followed by the evaluation of SPD objectives and regeneration options. No significant negative effects were found, but a series of recommendations were made to refine the guidance provided within the SPD, to meet any recognised gaps in knowledge and to maximise the beneficial effects of the SPD.
The brief has been formally adopted as part of the Reading Local Development Framework.
