Two Linked Sites at Thakeham near Horsham

Acting for Abingworth Developments Limited, Boyer Planning has submitted planning applications for two important linked landholdings within Horsham District. These landholdings are directly associated with a major employment user, Sussex Mushrooms Ltd, which is the second largest supplier to supermarkets in the country.

Part of this submission involves the provision of a modernised mushroom production plant, with upgraded buildings and equipment. This will ensure a continuing, competitive business and the retention of the current work force of approximately 480 employees. An enabling residential development would provide the financial injection needed for the upgrading of the mushroom plant buildings and equipment.

The enabling development provides 146 houses, and in addition community benefits include a village hall building, shop, doctor's surgery, a pre-school facility, community workshops/studios, sports pitches and changing rooms, cricket pitch and pavilion, and children's play area. The site has been the subject of consultation with key stakeholders and the community over many years.
