The Southwark Foodbank is working to tackle poverty and hunger in our local communities. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussel Trust.  It was founded in 2004 and has helped communities work together to launch foodbanks nationwide in a wide range of towns and cities. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.

The Southwark Foodbank provide a range services beyond food to help people in crisis break the cycle of poverty for instance, financial advice,  basic cookery, nutrition and budget management and fuel banks (i.e. fuel vouchers).

The London Office is looking forward to volunteering and raising money to help the Southwark Foodbank in a number of interesting and exciting ways throughout the year. To find out more about Southwark Foodbank or to donate, please click here.
