Success for Bloor Homes in Bideford

14th June 2016
By Elliot Jones

On behalf of Bloor Homes (South West) Limited, Boyer secured outline planning permission on 9th June for a major residential-led development to the west of Bideford in North Devon.

The proposal was for 750 homes, a local primary school, a commercial centre, strategic road infrastructure and extensive areas of informal and formal open space. Officers advised that it was one of the largest applications that Torridge Council had ever determined.

Boyer has been involved with the scheme for over 8 years, and has worked closely with Bloor and the Council to secure a positive outcome.  This work has included submitting representations to each stage of the emerging Core Strategy/Joint Local Plan process, agreeing with Officers that the site could come forward in advance of the adoption of the Joint Local Plan, engaging with ATLAS and advising Bloor in respect of a Planning Performance Agreement that was signed between the parties.  This alone took 6 years to complete, with the outline application submitted in late October 2014.
