Boyer achieves planning success in Blackheath Conservation Area

Boyer was engaged by Berkeley Homes (Eastern Counties) and worked collaboratively with EPR Architects to successfully achieve planning permission from Lewisham's planning committee for 30 new residential units within the Blackheath Conservation Area.

The proposals involve redevelopment of a BMW showroom and service centre site within a predominantly residential area to provide a boutique BMW showroom, 20 apartments and 10 townhouses within landscaped amenity space.

The proposals were subject to extensive consultation with the Local Planning Authority, residents, and local amenity groups. Boyer led detailed land use, design, and highways negotiations due to the complex site constraints, including proximity of the site to heritage assets, including the Grade II St Margaret’s Church on Lee Terrace.

Notably it was agreed that the scheme would be an attractive addition to the Blackheath Conservation Area and would not cause harm to nearby heritage assets. The proposals will result in enhanced views to the adjacent churchyard as a consequence of the design considerations and the development will deliver planning gain to conserve headstones in the churchyard.

Berkeley Homes expects to bring forward this exciting new development soon.
