North West Cheltenham

Boyer was first instructed to promote an urban extension at North West Cheltenham in 2003. The initial scheme comprised a development of some 950 new homes.

In the intervening period, and with promotion through the Cheltenham Borough Local Plan, Gloucestershire Structure Plan and the Regional Spatial Strategy on behalf of Bloor Homes and Persimmon Homes, the potential scheme grew to 5,000 new homes, a 10ha business park, 1,000 space park-and-ride, an all-through school and two primary schools, district and local centres, and a comprehensive green infrastructure strategy.

The area of search was part of the Draft RSS in 2006, endorsed and recommended for enlargement by the EIP Panel and contained within the Secretary of State's proposed changes. An outline planning application was prepared by Boyer , in conjunction principally with Barton Willmore as master planners, NJL as sustainability advisors and Phil Jones Associates on transportation. Public consultation was held in November 2009.
