Redevelopment of former gasworks at Prince of Wales Drive

Boyer was appointed by St William Homes, part of the Berkeley Group, to advise on the residential-led redevelopment of the former gasworks site at Prince of Wales Drive located within the designated Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea (VNEB) Opportunity Area. Boyer secured planning permission for the redevelopment of the 2 hectare site which includes the demolition of the now operationally redundant gas holders on the site. Permission was secured for a number of tall buildings on the site rising up 26 storeys to accommodate over 800 new homes, approximately 5,700sqm of non-residential floorspace comprising flexible floorspace for education uses, crèche facilities, offices and retail/café uses and professional and financial services uses. This permission is a result of a collaborative approach by Boyer and St James Group with Officers at the London Borough of Wandsworth; the Greater London Authority (GLA) and local residents.

This is the first planning permission in London for the joint venture company formed between the Berkeley Group and National Grid and is Boyer's sixth planning permission for redevelopment in the VNEB Opportunity Area.
