Thames Tower, Reading

Boyer is providing planning advice to Landid and Brockton Capital on their existing 186,750 sq ft office building at Thames Tower. Located directly opposite Reading rail (and from 2019 Elizabeth Line) station, 14-storey Thames Tower acts as a high-profile landmark welcoming visitors to Reading.

Since the building’s comprehensive refurbishment and extension was completed in 2017, Boyer has been providing planning advice on various commercial matters to facilitate potential new occupiers, including:

  • Achieving full planning permission for the change of use of part of the ground floor from a flexible office and retail use (Classes A1, A2, A3 and B1) to Class A4 (drinking establishments);
  • Securing a Certificate of Lawful Use to confirm that the use of the sixth floor for Class B1(a) Office use is lawful; and
  • Preparing and submitting an application for advertisement consent to display several illuminated projecting signs for co-working group Fora.

Boyer has secured positive results within tight timeframes by liaising closely with the clients’ development teams and legal advisors and planning officers at Reading Borough Council. This is one of several sites within the Reading central area which Boyer is currently advising on.
