University of Roehampton

Client: University of Roehampton

LPA: London Borough of Wandsworth

Boyer has been working with the University of Roehampton since 2012 to deliver new academic and student accommodation.

Roehampton University is the only campus university in London and the site is constrained with a number of listed buildings on the site, part of which is on English Heritage’s Historic Parks and Gardens Register.

Boyer obtained planning permission and listed building consent for the development of 210 student bedrooms in three new buildings in the grounds of the Grade II listed Downshire House, completed in September 2015. The scheme won the Mayor of Wandsworth’s Design Award in 2017 and an RIBA National Award in 2018 as well as being shortlisted for the RIBA Sterling Prize.

Boyer also obtained planning permission for a new library, conference centre and 450 new student bedrooms at Digby Stuart College. More recently in 2019, Boyer secured permission for the refurbishment of part of Grove House, a Grade II* listed building, to create a new nursing department.
