Greater Nottingham Plan Representations
Boyer’s Planning, Design and Development Economics (DE) Teams along with their colleagues at LRG Land & Development and New Homes have just collaborated on submitting representations to promote several ambitious strategic land opportunities to the Growth Options Consultation for the emerging Greater Nottingham Local Plan.
These range from village extensions, new settlements and urban extensions on behalf of a mix of developers and landowners across the Plan Area.
Since Boyer and LRG Land & Development set up their Midlands Office in August 2017, strategic land promotion has always been a regional focus for the business. The opportunity in Nottinghamshire of this regional approach to strategic plan making was immediately identified as an opportunity. A combination of a national drive to boost the supply of housing, support for larger scale accessible locations and the regional approach to strategic plan making gave a clear indication of the type of sites Greater Nottingham was looking for.
What was particularly evident to us was the need to focus on the deliverability and accessibility of land as a driver for locating future growth. This underpinned Land & Development’s identification of large scale strategic opportunities and direct approaches to landowners and Boyer’s advice to clients with existing land interests. Planners in our Midlands Team were able to draw on the expertise of Design and DE to illustrate visually and technically how our client’s land interests are in suitable, accessible and deliverable locations in our representations.
Boyer, with its collaborative approach between our Planning, Design, DE and Land Teams is well placed to understand, not only how a site can meet emerging policy criteria but what site attributes are important to developers in ensuring opportunities are deliverable and the value of development proposals are maximised. This understanding of how the planning process leads through to site disposal / acquisition and new homes sales makes us unique in being able to advise our clients how to secure and implement valuable planning permissions.
We are committed to this strategy for growing our business across Boyer’s regional offices.
