Boyer has secured planning permission for the redevelopment of 1-20 Long Wyre Street, Colchester for two A1 retail units, five A3 restaurant units and 24 residential apartments on behalf of our clients, the East of England Co-operative Society. 

This application involved a lengthy but positive process with Colchester Borough Council in which commercial, economic, design, heritage and policy elements were discussed and balanced by both parties. 

This redevelopment, which has now progressed with the apartments and key restaurant units now completed, has resulted in a long term vacant, locally listed building with attractive historic features being given a new life and improving the local streetscape. The proposal for this building, as well as its design, was praised by Committee Members who recognised that town centres must aim to be vibrant places with activity extending beyond that of retail hours and to create destinations that people want to visit and spend extended amounts of time in.
