Reserved Matters approved at Brantham
Boyer have been working on this site for many years promoting the site through the Local Plan and Core Strategy, achieving an allocation, followed by the submission of a hybrid application, approved in 2016, for the regeneration of the existing industrial estate and the development of up to 320 dwellings.
The application represents a crucial step forward in the life of a long-standing strategic allocation within the development plan. The approval not only, realises the plan-led delivery of needed homes in the District, but also secures the funding required to expedite the delivery of the Brantham Regeneration Area, making it feasible and attractive to potential future occupiers.
A Reserved Matters application related to the residential part of the strategic allocation, was more recently prepared on behalf of Taylor Wimpey East Anglia for 288 new dwellings, and associated open space and infrastructure. Boyer worked closely with both District and County officers on the project through early pre-app meetings and presentation to an independent Design Review Panel, as well as maintaining open dialogue with the Parish Council. The site is very steep and has a difficult topography, with a variety of natural features, including a veteran oak and the local Decoy Pond, and has far reaching views to and from the site of the Stour estuary. The architectural response that has been achieved as tried to incorporate all of these elements, including being sympathetic towards the heritage and former industrial growth of the village of Brantham.
The application achieved a unanimous approval at Planning Committee in June 2019. The scheme represents a thoughtfully designed scheme which was highly praised by Members for its attention to detail and the extensive consultation and engagement that was undertaken throughout the process.
